PAN- Aadhaar Deadline Extended | Extension of Date for linking PAN and Aadhaar

The date of linking PAN-Aadhaar has been extended by the government to Jun 30, 2023. Those who link it now will have to pay a fine of Rs 1000. The fine was levied after last year’s deadline of June 30, 2022

If you fail to link your PAN and Aadhaar after 30th June 2023, you will not be able to receive your income tax refunds, TDS and TCS will also be deducted at a higher rate, amount other penalties.

To link your PAN (Permanent Account Number) and Aadhaar (Unique Identification Number) in India, you can follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official website of the Income Tax Department of India at https://www.incometax.gov.in/ or click on https://www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-FilingGS/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.html directly to go to the Link Aadhaar page.
  2. Click on the “Link Aadhaar” option under the “Quick Links” section.
  3. Enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and name as per the Aadhaar card.
  4. Check the box against “I have only year of birth on Aadhaar Card,” if applicable.
  5. Enter the Captcha code, which is displayed on the screen.
  6. Click on the “Link Aadhaar” button.
  7. If your Aadhaar details match the PAN details, then a message will be displayed saying
  8. “Aadhaar-PAN linking is completed successfully.”

Note that linking PAN with Aadhaar is mandatory for all taxpayers in India, and it should be completed by the deadline set by the government. Failure to do so may result in a penalty or the cancellation of your PAN card.
